Tea Machinery Exhibition “TERADA Fair” Also Held On This Weekend

TERADA is one of the top makers of tea machineries in Japan, as well as Kawasaki Kiko Co., Ltd. This company will also exhibit their tea machines on this weekend, 26th(Fri.) and 27th(Sat.).

Various tea machines were exhibited on TERADA Fair last year as shown below.

Unfortunately, it is not allowed to take photo of tea manufacturing machines in tea factory because of the trade secret.

In an open seminar about matcha, TERADA exhibited a miniature of their “Tencha dryer” made by 3D-printer. The company has developed and launched their proprietary Tencha dryer since 2016 corresponding to the worldwide growing demand for matcha.

The miniature of traditional Tencha dryer consisting of bricks furnance was also exhibited for comparison.

The contrast the new Tencha dryer and traditional one indicates the down-sizing could be successful. Besides its drying efficiency of tea leaves seems to be also improved.

TERADA has also developed their original machines in cooperation with research institutes, such as NARO and Shizuoka Prefectural Tea Research Center.
The collaboration of TERADA, NARO and Shizuoka prefectural Tea Research Center established the machine for decaffeination of raw tea shoots for crude tea processing.

The chief director of technical division of TERADA explained how to decaffeinate raw tea shoots at Minori Harvest Festival last year.

For processing matcha, the tea machinery company developed the machine for Tencha grinding with keeping lower temperature.

On this weekend, let’s enjoy seeing the curious tea machinery in TERADA!!
