Ohta-san is recognized as one of the most prominent farmers by tea farmers around him in Makinohara area. Even in the other area, some farmers say that tea farmers should emulate his cultivation manner as a sophisticated model.
He has also a prominent attitude for tea cultivation and processing of loose leaf tea in Makinohara area.

Fortunately, in USA, you can buy his loose leaf tea in Amazon.com(On the other hand, in Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.au, there are no search results about these products). If you search “tea ota hakiri” in Amazon.com, you will find some images like below. The quality of the loose leaf tea is so much fine!

 

Unfortunately there are some mistake of translation in the product description, such as “depth insect tea”. Its correct description is “deep-steamed green tea”. In the process of Japanese loose leaf tea production, at first, harvested shoots of tea plants are steamed. In Makinohara area, the degree of the steaming is deeper than other areas, resulting in milder and slightly sweet taste with rich body and deep green color.
