110 Years Anniversary of ‘Yabukita’ cultivar & Shizuoka Prefectural Tea Research Center on 10th Nov.

Shizuoka Prefectural Tea Research Center has researched tea science and developed technologies in tea industry since 1908. The research fulfillments have supported various businesses in tea industries in the United Tea Estates of Shizuoka, such as tea farmers, tea processors, tea companies, machinery companies related to tea production etc.

Sometimes, this long-established research institute holds some events for people to return the profits of researches to society. In this time, Shizuoka prefectural Tea Research Center will perform various sessions as follows.

 

(1) Talk Show “Charm of Tea” by Brekell Oscar and Tokumasu Nile
“Brekell of All Tea Trades” and the announcer Ms. Tokumasu will talk about the charm of tea.

Brekell Oscar talks about Japanese tea everywhere. Charm of tea told by Brekell would attract you to teaism.

 

(2) Various Tea Experiences
We can enjoy 3 types of experience as follows.

– Oil expression of tea seeds.

– Tea ceremony (Matcha brewing)
– Tea calligraphy experience

 

(3) Tasting tea foods
Various foods containing tea will delight your eyes and tongue.

“Karinto” soaked with matcha fondue.

 

(4) Photo shot!
Taking nice photos in beautiful tea gardens! It’s perfect to uploading to Instagram!!

 

(5) Introduction of research profits and experience of tea technologies
Introduction of up to date research fulfillments related to tea science and technologies.

– Tasting new tea cultivars

Research staff professional to tea cultivars will serve cups of new tea cultivar infusion with explanation of their characteristics.

Explanations for brewing each new tea cultivar by research staff.

At the past event, various participants joined the tasting session. Mr. Kawaguchi, the president of an excellent tea company “Shinkoju”, also joined the event and seriously observed loose leaf tea of each tea cultivar.

– Observation of laboratories
Tencha dryer, Matcha processing, equipment for oolong and black tea maturation etc.

 

(6) Introduction of ‘Yabukita’ cultivar
Research staff will explain the characteristics of ‘Yabukita’ cultivar.

At the past event, professional staff explained features of each tea cultivar in the tea garden for the comparative experiment of tea cultivars.

  • Address : 1706-11, Kurasawa, Kikugawa city, Shizuoka prefecture
  • Access : Please park your car on the parking area of Yazaki co., ltd. and use shuttle bus from the parking area to the Tea Recearch Center. In case using bus, please ride on the bus bound to “Sagara Bus Center” on 11:10 and get off on the bus stop “Chagyou Kenkyu Center Mae” (In front of Tea Research Center). It takes approx. 10 minutes by bus.
