Nakazawaen Tea Store Welcomes Us In Front Of Shimizu Port & Station

Nakazawaen Tea Store is a local-oriented tea store locating at the entrance of main shopping street in front of Shimizu station.

This tea store deals with mainly local specialty teas, produced on Ryogochi, Mobata, Nihondaira and Honyama tea estates in Shizuoka city.

We can see the Kanji characters of tea estates’ name on each tea storage box so-called “Chabako”.

I was impressed with the chair of Chabako. Old advertisement designs pictures for Japanese tea are drawn on their outside. We can see the unique English characters so-called “Ranji”.

The inside is available to put our luggage!

I bought a loose leaf tea of the cultivar ‘Shizu 7132’, which has an unique aroma like Cherry blossom. Tea farmers in the tea estates in Shimizu ward have expanded the cultivation area of this variety ‘Shizu 7132’ and developed the local brand tea named as “Machiko”, which is produced only the single cultivar of ‘Shizu 7132’.

Loose leaf tea of Machiko is sold on various countries and companies such as Rishi tea in USA, Tee Kontor Kiel and TEA HOUSE in Germany.

Tea farmers and tea merchants in Shimizu region call the “Machiko” as “the tea bringing happiness”. Hopefully “Machiko” could bring happiness to you with sweet aroma like Sakura cherry blossom.
