MARUZEN Tea Roastery on Main Street of Shizuoka City

Lately the number of specialty tea café has been gaining in Japan, and worldwide also just I guess. In Shizuoka city, a specialty tea stand has been established, where we can enjoy specialty teas in an optimal roast which we choose. The tea stall is “MARUZEN Tea Roastery”.

The fancy tea stand provides some choices of degree of roast with us. At first, we can choose the degree of roast and tea type. As for the roasting degree, we can choose favorite roasting from 5 levels, 80, 100, 130, 160 and 200 degree Celsius.

There are lines of loose leaf teas roasted at each temperature. We can confirm the degree of roast by seeing the appearance of loose leaf tea.

And there are 3 tea types of loose leaf tea; light steamed Sencha, deep steamed Sencha and Gyokuro. The tea shop lines 3 types of green tea produced in each origin in Shizuoka prefecture. When I visited on 21th April, the origin of light steamed Sencha, deep steamed Sencha and Gyokuro were Ryogochi, Mori and Okabe tea estates respectively.

We can see the degree of roast, tea type and origin tea estate on the package as shown in the below.

In addition, we can enjoy looking the appearance of each loose leaf tea and the change of tea leaves as increase in roasting temperature.

We can choose the depth of roast for tea gelado as shown in the below.

The pair of roasted tea and tea gelado must delight you!

When you visit Shizuoka city, it is recommended to have a break in MARUZEN Tea Roastery.

On the Gofukucho streat, the dripping infusion of roasted tea is the mark of this tea stand “MARUZEN Tea Roastery”.
