NARUSAWA – Souvenir Shop next to Nirayama Reverberatory Furnances

NARUSAWA is a souvenir shop locating next to Nirayama Reverberatory Furnances, which is one of the sites of World Heritage “Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Mining“.

The shop provides not only local foods including teas but also an experience of tea hand picking in the tea garden located on the mountainside of back of the shop.

In the tea garden, autumn shoots are growing vividly.

The experience is performed till 15th October in this autumn. Of course, Narusawa carries out the tea-picking experience in every spring and early summer for first flush and second flush respectively.

The tea garden can give us a fantastic view – a pair of Mt. Fuji and Nirayama Reverberatory Furnances beyond the tea plantation. It would be so wonderful.When I visited, I could not see the view because of cloudy weather.

In a shiny day, we can see the beautiful Mt. Fuji and the reverberatory furnances with tea plants, as shown in the picture on the observation deck.

In spring, cherry blossoms are also added to the landscape, resulting in more fantastic view according to the other’s post.

There is an observation deck on the tea plantation for seeing the view.

Besides, the tea garden has other charms.
Mossy stone wall and stairs engender somehow nostalgic atmosphere.

Above the stairs, there is a tiny shine in front of the tea garden, like a guardian.

Inside the shop, we can meet a wide variety of tea products.

NARUSAWA lines various local wines using local fruits in Izu Peninsula.

Of course, they line some grades of loose leaf tea.

Small packages would satisfy our demand to try various teas.

This shop mainly lines green teas of Yabukita cultivar. The staff, who serves a cup of tea for tasting, passionately told how excellent Yabukita is.

A veteran staff served a cup of fine green tea by Kyusu tea pot.

We can enjoy local light meals in the shop. We can eat a rare food “Inoshishi Nikuman”, which contains a wild game meet of Inoshishi.

We can enjoy various Nikuman, which are steamed buns filled with various fillings containing wild game meets, local vegetables etc. Soft serves of green tea and roasted tea also available.

We can also enjoy local cuisines and beers in the restaurant next to the souvenir shop.
