The deep brown color indicates the leaves are fully oxidized. The appearance is also good.

The color of infusion is clean amber. Its lower degree of darkness may be the characteristic of Japanese black tea.

The taste is mild and medium-bodied, enhancing drinking. I like its soft finish. The aroma is not so strong. I’d like to drink it with Japanese confections of salty taste, for example rice cracker “Sembei”. So the “Kinme-dai Sembei”, served in the hotel in Shimoda, goes very well with the black tea. Local foods often can be good pairings.

The black tea by Front in Shimoda goes very well with local confections, such as Kinmedai Senbei, which is a rice cracker containing Kinmedai (Splended Alfonsino). The drawing of Splended Alfonsino is depicted on the package of the rice cracker shown in the central of this picture.

I think the black tea can go well with fish cuisines, such as baked “Himono”, which has rich umami enhanced by salt drying.

Himono of Kinmedai – Semi-dried Splended Alfonsino, which is sold in “Front” in front of Shimoda station. I think this Himino and the black tea would be a good pairing and enhance their flavor each other.

It is recommended to enjoy the black tea by “FRONT” with local foods in Shimoda at home. They would remember us our good memories in Shimoda.
