The ministry of agriculture forestry and fishers, so-called “MAFF”, held a public seminar for citizens about how to enjoy Japanese teas in the “room for consumers” on 2nd June.
In this event, various teas and related goods from all around Japan are exhibited.
The instructor of Japanese tea made a presentation about how to prepare Japanese tea better, especially cold infusion or iced tea perfect to the coming summer season.
The room was full of visitors!!
Some visitors were very curious with Japanese tea and the exhibition, they asked the instructor or staff about Japanese tea.
[ Postscript ]
A set of teas from Shizuoka and Kagoshima was presented for visitors as an event gift.
At home, I tried teas of the event gift.
(1) Shizuoka tea : Powder of Kakegawa green tea
I’d like to emphasize its natural sweetness! In general, flavor of powder tea is weaker than loose leaf tea. This powder tea has relatively higher flavor.
It is recommended to shaking with ices by using thermos. It’s convenient and perfect to the coming hot days. It may be nice to mix additional flavors, such as grated ginger with sugar, cinnamon sugar etc.
(2) Kagoshima tea : The first flush of Kagoshima green tea
The beginning of tea plucking in Kagoshima is the earliest in Japan due to its warmer climate. This Kagoshima tea seems to be produced in the earlier period in Japan. In some cases, tea farmers pluck younger tea shoots to accomplish the young fresh aroma specific to earlier first flush. In my speculation, this tea is made from the enough-grown tea shoots through deep-steaming and relatively strong roasting, resulting the harmony of fresh aroma and delicate sweetness.
I was fully satisfied with these event gifts!!
