On 21st Feb., Makinohara city and local tea stores held a wonderful tea event, named as “Makinohara concerto” in a traditional temple “Sekiyuin”. In this event, participants enjoyed a variety of teas and sweets provided by local companies, exhibition of tea-related items, demonstration of hand-processing tea, matcha ceremony, and so on.
There were harmony of color, harmony of taste, harmony of atmosphere. These harmony made participants comfortable, enhancing their happy conversation. That IS concerto!
Concerto by teas, sweets and all participants created many happy scenes as following.
NAITO-EN served their best reccomended tea “Karigane”. In addition, they provided various teas and unique sweets. Especially the square-shaped cream puff was very impressive for me.
The preservation association for the traditional technique of tea hand-processing, so-called “Temomi Hozonkai”.
This group provided their hand-processed tea in a unique manner shown in the above. 1g of tea leaves was steeped in 10ml water till the leaves loosen like a birth squeeze. Not only adults, tiny children also enjoyed this demonstration and were satisfied for the taste of infusion.
Oguri farm co. ltd. welcomed guests with serving cold water extracted tea by using coffee drip apparatus. They infused “Tsuyuhikari”, one of the cultivar of tea plants that have become very popular due to its color of infusion and delicious, delicate taste. Cold extracted tea was very condensed and rich in umami and aroma. In addition, I felt flower-like or fruit-like aroma after sipping. A small cup of this Tsuyuhikari made me feel prismatic senses!
Besides, Ms. Masuda very kindly explained many things such as the features of Tsuyuhikari, infusion conditions recommended for our preferences, etc.
Zashiki avenue, Japanese style room, was full of guests.

Three girls from Sagara Bussan co ltd. served teas for guests.
When I visited a retail store of this company, unfortunately I could not meet these girls. My with came true in this day.
