We welcome you to the United Tea Estates of Shizuoka!!
Shizuoka prefecture has several prominent tea estates. Makinohara upland including 4 cites (Makinohara, Kakegawa, Kikugwa, Shimada), tea plantations on the mountainside of Kawane and Fujieda tea estates, Honyama and Ashikubo on the mountainside along with Abe River, tea plantations on plains and mountains in Shimizu, Fuji and Ashitaka on the foot of Mt. Fuji, Iwata plain, Mori town, Tenryu region on the upper stream of Tenryu River etc.
Each tea estate has characteristic environment such as micro climate, soil, constituents in natural water, geography etc. These features of environment can provide each tea estate with terroir, resulting in various sophisticated skills of tea farmers for tea production.
There are multihued ways to enjoy local specialty teas and trip to tea estates. Every tea estate has fantastic landscapes and great natures. I’d like to share the information of each tea estate and how to enjoy tea tourism.
