T-1 Grand Prix Held on Shizuoka Tea Market Festival

T-1 Grand Prix was held as one of the sessions of Shizuoka Tea Market Festival on 15th February.

Shizuoka Tea Market held a festival in its building with related companies and merchants. The related companies, which are buyers and sellers of the market, exhibited and sold their tea products. As Shizuoka citizens love local tea, the market was full of the tea-loving citizens from children to the elderly.

Many families visited Shizuoka Tea Market Festival.

The market staff provides visitors with unique experience of tea tasting for the tea trade in the market. Children enjoyed the tea trade experience with their parents.

The staff of Shizuoka Tea Market, dressed with the blue jacket, explained how to check the quality of crude teas on the trade in the market. Visitors, including children, enjoyed checking the quality of crude teas produced each tea estate in Shizuoka prefecture.

Shizuoka Tea Market exhibited costumes and traditional calculators so-called “Soroban” used in the trade.

In the United Tea Estates of Shizuoka, children can sense the quality of crude teas. Children checked the appearance of each crude tea strictly in the market.

In the same time, Shizuoka city government held “T-1 Grand Prix” for children in Shizuoka Tea Market. In the “T-1 Grand Prix”, children competed with each other over the skills and knowledge related to Japanese tea.

 

 

In the United Tea Estates of Shizuoka, tea is still now hot topic. Thus several broadcasts covered the competition. In addition, one of the representatives of Shizuoka prefecture, Ms. Kamikawa joined the opening ceremony and encouraged children.

The competition has 3 sessions. Tea quiz, tea type perception and tea brewing test.

At the end, the top 5 children compete the skill of tea brewing.

The winner can be awarded and win the special prize such as agricultural product, gift certificate etc.
