T-1 Grand Prix was held as one of the sessions of Shizuoka Tea Market Festival on 15th February.
Shizuoka Tea Market held a festival in its building with related companies and merchants. The related companies, which are buyers and sellers of the market, exhibited and sold their tea products. As Shizuoka citizens love local tea, the market was full of the tea-loving citizens from children to the elderly.
The market staff provides visitors with unique experience of tea tasting for the tea trade in the market. Children enjoyed the tea trade experience with their parents.
In the same time, Shizuoka city government held “T-1 Grand Prix” for children in Shizuoka Tea Market. In the “T-1 Grand Prix”, children competed with each other over the skills and knowledge related to Japanese tea.
In the United Tea Estates of Shizuoka, tea is still now hot topic. Thus several broadcasts covered the competition. In addition, one of the representatives of Shizuoka prefecture, Ms. Kamikawa joined the opening ceremony and encouraged children.
The competition has 3 sessions. Tea quiz, tea type perception and tea brewing test.
At the end, the top 5 children compete the skill of tea brewing.
The winner can be awarded and win the special prize such as agricultural product, gift certificate etc.
In this time, Shizuoka Tea Market provided many families with a great opportunity to enjoy Shizuoka teas and related culture. The long-established tea market in Shizuoka prefecture will keep providing us with more opportunities to enjoy specialty teas produced in Shizuoka prefecture and tea culture.
In the next time, the market will hold the initial trade ceremony at the middle of April. I’d like to recommend tea lovers to experience the traditional tea trade and tea culture in the initial trade ceremony in Shizuoka Tea Market.
