The World O-CHA(Tea) Festival is held in 3 years. In the previous time, various tea businesses from tea farmers to local food producers joined the World Tea Market. This event could provide participants with great opportunity to communicate with each other. I’d like to share the information of impressive exhibitors in the previous time.
CHAKURA – The retail division of Kikusui Tea Production Cooperative
Young tea farmers of Kikusui Tea Production Cooperative organize the retail division “CHAKURA”. They sells their specialty teas on the World Tea Market.
Their stem tea was very impressive. The tea had mellow aroma and it could be strengthen by slightly-roasting using toaster oven by oneself. And the price was just 500 yen per approx. 300g, we could put the tea into package by ourselves.
Mr. Murata, one of the members in CHAKURA, sells their specialty teas on the Japanese Tea EC store “Yunomi” worldwide.
Tea confections
Various tea confections were exhibited by tea companies and local confectionary companies.
Kanes Tea Co. Ltd. exhibited their specialty tea confections, the Premium Matcha Ganache and Hojicha Ganache.
An unique confectionery company “Sweet Love Romance” is famous for its soy milk jam and related sweet products. The company launched “Soy & Milk Spread of Green Tea Chocolate”.
“Cha-pudding” is a famous souvenir in Shizuoka, which is sold in many stations in Shizuoka prefecture.
Local associations of tea farmers in each tea estate
Local associations of tea farmers in each tea estate served their local tea brands.
Specialty teas brewed by Japanese Tea Instructors
Specialty teas produced in the United Tea Estates of Shizuoka were brewed by Japanese Tea Instructors and served by local high school students.
ITO EN’s exhibition
ITO EN served their bottled tea and brewed their loose leaf teas for visitors in the World Tea Market in the previous time.
ITO EN also exhibited their excellent practice for SDGs, for example the re-cycle system of residual tea leaves after infusion for bottled tea production.
They developed various uses of the residual tea leaves such as ingredients for paper, Tatami board, plastic materials and construction materials. Their practice can reduce the consumption of each resources such as wood and fossil oil. Besides, blending tea leaves into Tatami board and construction materials could add the function to absorb bad odors. The paper consisting of residual tea leaves slightly has tea aroma.
ITO EN practices various acts for SDGs as described in the official webpage. Thus ITO EN was prized for their excellent practices for SDGs as the SDGs Partnership Award in Japan.
