Tokyo Tea Party 2017 is held till tomorrow! We can enjoy the appearance and flavor of specialty teas all around Japan.
Today, visitors tried sensory analysis of 18 specialty teas which are awarded as “Platina Prize” and elected the best preferred one in the tasting event. Name and type of each tea is kept secret. Visitors selected the best one based on only each flavor and infusion appearance without other information.
Semi-awarded teas were displayed and sold. We could enjoy seeing the appearance and smelling the aroma of loose leaf tea.
Tea farmers, processors or blenders, who elected for the Platina prize, served their own teas around the event booth.
Kanetou Miura-en served two awarded teas
Deep steamed green tea of ‘Saemidori’ cultivar expressed so beautiful clear liquor of deep green color. The aroma of infusion was mellow. The infusion has rich umami, softness and mild texture with comfortable finish of fresh green and gradually gaining sweetness, which is speculated to be caused by a relaxation of tannins or their complexes.
The flavorful tea caused a long line of young visitors.
Visitors from Taiwan also enjoyed the special green tea.
Black tea of hand-plucked second flush expressed adequate body of tannin and fruity aroma.
Yamaari Tea Factory served deep steamed green tea of “Tsuyuhikari” cultivar.
The liquor color was condensed green, on the other hand, the flavor was soft and clean with pale sweet aroma.
Tomorrow, the best elected one will be presented! Which tea could be the one?
