A series of open water swim competitions has been held in each beach all around Japan. The OWS race in Shizuoka has also held annually, its name is “Ocha Swim” which means “Swim race in the tea estate”, in tribute to the biggest domestic production of Japanese tea in Shizuoka. In this year, the “Ocha Swim” was held on 4th June.
In the competition, Shizuoka tea is given for participants as a keepsake of the race in Shizuoka.
The host city, Numazu city, set a tea stand temporarily in the beach to serve Numazu tea in a discounted price.
I bought the Numau tea so-called “Numaccha”. Fresh astringency and bitterness stimulus my senses and made me refreshed before the race!
Blue clean ocean, vivid forest, beautiful wild lives and wonderful landscape! The harmony of them made me feel the flavor of tea more fantastic!!!
It is fully recommended to enjoy local tea in the great local nature in Shizuoka!!

Charm of the beach
(1) Clean sea water
The sea water in the beach is evaluated as the finest quality by the Ministry of Environment.
(2) Mt. Fuji beyond the beach and bay
In the sunny day, we can look Mt. Fuji beyond the beach. Unfortunately the clouds veiled most part of Mt. Fuji in this day. Only the top of Mt. Fuji appeared for a short time.
In addition, we can look the tea plantations on Mt. Ashitaka.
