Sushiwaka is a Japanese restaurant located on Makinohara upland, cooking mainly sushi and tempura.
As you know, sushi and tempura are traditional Japanese cuisine. Sushi is a vinegared rice topped or mixed with various fresh seafoods, mainly row fishes. Tempura is deep-fried seafood or vegetable in batter.
Tea farmers often use this restaurant “Sushiwaka”.
Lunch menu of this restaurant is famous for substantial volume, perfect for blue-collar workers.
An example of lunch menu. Tendon, topped with various tempura of conger, shrimp, horse mackerel, eggplant and seaweed. Miso soup of asari shellfish is also good.
In my opinion, miso soup in time-honored Japanese restaurants tend to be very delicious. I think such tasty miso soup would be based on the skill of “dashi” stock sophisticated over time.
The miso soup of asari shellfish has rich umami of “dashi” from shellfish and some seafoods, such as “kombu” seaweed, smoked skipjack tuna.
This restaurant is relatively near to Shizuoka Airport. If you visit to Shizuka by using airplane, I recommend to try lunch in Sushiwaka.
