In April, we often meet spring shower.
Sometimes a light spring shower falls while the sun shines as shown below.

The phenomenon, a light rain while the sun shines, is known as “sun shower” and this phenomenon has various expressions worldwide.

In Japan, this is called as “the fox’s wedding”, pronounced as “Kitsune-no-Yomeiri”.
Surprisingly, Malaysians call as “kurukkande kalyanam”, which is same meaning to “Fox’s marriage”. Korean expression “Fox day” is also similar.

In Netherland and Scandinavia, the meaning of this phenomenon is “sun shower” and called as “zonregen” and “solregn” respectively.

Spring shower while sun shines causes rapid increase of humidity, resulting in fog.

In the day, fog arose on tea gardens and flowed down to urban area in Shizuoka city, creating fantastic scenes as follows.

Fog flowed down to urban area create a fantastic view due to light scattering.

Compared with the same view in a shiny day, the difference is obvious.

In a shiny day, we can have a view of urban area clearly over tea plants from the point.

Changeability of climate in April provides foggy days, which can contribute higher quality of teas due to shading effect. As mentioned previously, the leaves of shade grown tea have deeper green color due to the increase in chlorophyll. In addition, shade cultivation can increase amino acid content in tea leaves because shading somehow prohibits protein synthesis from amino acid.

Sun shower provides a beautiful rainbow. However, I could not look a rainbow in the day unfortunately.
In the next fox’s day, I hope I can see the view of rainbow over beautiful tea gardens!!
